About the Instructor
Nick Bird, MD, MMM, ABFM, FUHM
Dr. Bird currently serves as Regional Medical Director for Duke Urgent Care in Durham, NC.
Fellowship trained in undersea and hyperbaric medicine, Dr. Bird is a past CEO and Chief Medical Officer for Divers Alert Network, and Medical Director of Hyperbaric Medicine at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT.
Having served in the United States Air Force, Dr. Bird was the Deputy Flight Commander for the Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care Center at Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA. He also served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
You will see Dr. Bird around the U.S. teaching Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine courses with Wound Care Education Partners, as well as teaching online continuing education programs for practitioners of hyperbaric medicine.
The Board now requires the following statement to accompany all subsequent references to NBDHMT approved CEU, one that serves as a reminder of CHT core competency:
“CHT re-certification requires a minimum of nine of the minimum 12 Category A credits relate directly to any combination of hyperbaric operations, related technical aspects and chamber safety”.
